Everybody likes feeling old right? Well guess what?! The original Xbox is 10 years old today. That's right, Microsoft's entry into the video game industry is a whole decade old today. The original Xbox was released on this day back in 2001, which also saw the release of Halo: Combat Evolved. So it makes sense that the anniversary edition of the original Halo comes out today as well.
The Xbox wasn't welcomed warmly at first but it has earned a spot in the gaming industry. When it was first launched all it really had going for it was Halo. Then there was that fat ass controller, no one I know of actually liked using that horrible creature. While it wasn't as bad as say, the N64 controller, it was still pretty awful. After a not so hot launch the system really began to fly off the shelves due to the popularity of Halo and the Xbox Live program.
I remember when I got my first Xbox, I traded in a bunch of junk at the local Babbage's (now GameStop of course). I picked up the Xbox bundle that came with the slim controller and the Jet Set Radio/Sega GT Racebullshit disc. Along with it I also picked up Panzer Dragoon Orta, a commonly overlooked Xbox Game that really deserved more attention than it got. Ah, memories. I sure do feel old now.
