Dual Gear is a new game from five man Thai developer Orbital Speed Studio that’s inspired by classic Japanese turn based mech titles with a planned release window of the first quarter of 2017.
Players will be able to “drive a mech like an ace pilot” while thinking tactically during gameplay – a mix of real-time and turn-based action – and there will be a range of options available to allow you to customise your squad as you complete missions.
A fundraising campaign is currently being hosted on Indiegogo. The game has already raised $7000 and Orbital Speed is looking to ultimately generate $60,000 over the next 50 days. The game is also currently campaigning for launch on Steam Early Access and you can support it from its store page if it’s something you’d like to see added to the service. It’s currently placed sixth in the rankings during its first week.
Mechs measure six meters in height and feature powerful weapons including the Plasma Rifle and the Cannon and you’ll be able to fight, run, and boost your mech during your turn. All parts of the mech can be destroyed by the enemy and you’ll have to plan how to minimise the damage inflicted by enemy attacks while maximising the strength of your own.
Dual Gear is currently at the pre-alpha phase of development and a demo is available to play. In addition, pre-alpha and Indiegogo gameplay trailers have been released and can be viewed below. An updated build of the pre-alpha version will be released soon and Orbital Speed hopes to incorporate player feedback as the game progresses.
