Today Bethesda has revealed the long-awaited release date for DOOM. This multi-platform reboot of the classic PC series is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and with today’s announcement we now know when. The game will launch in late spring on the thematically-appropriate Friday, May 13, 2016.
The Collector’s Edition version of the game was also announced today and it will bring with it one mighty hellish goody: a 12″ statue of The Revenant that was cast from actual 3D in-game models, rotating on a lit turbine base. A copy of the game will also be included in a handsome metal case. The whole bundle will cost $119 in the U.S. (€129.99 in Europe and £99.99 in the UK) and is available for pre-order now.
Those who pre-order either the Collector’s Edition or the Standard Edition will also receive some additional multiplayer extras as part of the Demon Multiplayer Pack. It includes customization items for weapons and armor in the form of six metallic paints and three id logo patterns, as well as a demon armor set with three skin variations, and six Hack Modules.
To celebrate the occasion, Bethesda and id Software have released a new campaign trailer, one that will give you a good idea of the heat DOOM will be packin’ upon its release. You can watch that above. While you’re at it, you should also take a gander at the new DOOM level that John Romero released last month, or check out this amazing DOOM diorama.
