Gearbox announced today the addition of two new characters for Battleborn, the studio’s FPS/MOBA hybrid. The two characters are named Attikus and Galilea. The developer released a quick highlight trailer for both of them, both of which you can see at the bottom of this story.
Galilea is a heavily armored tank-like character, wielding a big shield and an even bigger sword. From her highlight trailer, she looks to play like a berserker, charging right into the fray and waving around her sword. She’s also seen using her shield to block incoming attacks. It appears that she has the ability to transform into what looks like a moving puddle, allowing her to momentarily slide around the map without taking damage.
Attikus, on the other hand, looks to approach in-your-face fighting with a different technique. From his highlight trailer, he seems to be a heavy brawler character, using his fists to smash and pound on opponents. He also looks to have the ability to bounce balls of lightning around the battlefield. He wields what appears to be a mechanical right arm adorned with spikes and rippling electricity. Gearbox hopes that the two new characters will further diversify the game’s roster, which is supposed to launch with 25 playable characters. Battleborn, the first original game developed by Gearbox since the first Borderlands in 2009, was announced in July, 2014. At the time, Gearbox said the game fused the genres of online multiplayer games with first-person shooters. The game was originally planned to launch this coming week, on February 9th, but last November the developer had to delay it to May 3rd, 2016 for the PC.
