Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain Shipped 6 Million Units

January 29, 2016 by Ryan Parreno

Konami continues to support the game as promised, while its series creator is moving on.

Konami has confirmed Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain has shipped 6 million units for this quarter.

To be specific, this is Q3 of FY 2015/2016. At the end of Q2, September 2015, it was at 5 million units, so an additional one million units shipped in the October to December period, including the holidays.

Konami also credits sales from their Jikkyou mobile games, stable revenue from arcade games, and strong sales of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game for their performance this quarter. Konami happens to also own and manufacture the Yu-Gi-Oh!  trading card game decks, on top of the video games.

While Konami has continued to support Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain, recently releasing Metal Gear Online on PC, its series creator, Hideo Kojima, has been rebuilding outside Konami. He recently shared a meditative screed with fans online.
