Funcom is far from dead. The studio announced today a new game set in the Conan universe called Conan Exiles. It's described as a multiplayer open-world survival game. We imagine it's in the same vein as Ark Survival Evolved and other titles like it.
In Conan Exiles, you play as an "exile", a man or woman left to fend for themselves in the harshness of the Hyborian wasteland. You'll have to grow your own crops, survive the elements, hunt for food, and build a place to live.
Funcom says there will be a lot of exploration involved, which you can do alone or in the company of friends on both private and public servers. A single-player mode is also planned.
"There is no better setting for an open-world survival game than the world of Conan," Funcom creative director Joel Bylos said. "Hyboria is a harsh and unforgiving land where only the strongest can survive while the weak are swiftly cut down. Whether it is hunting animals for food, fighting monsters and other players, or building entire settlements, we want to make sure players feel like they are really fighting to survive and prosper in the most brutal fantasy world ever."
In addition to the survival elements, the game will offer fast-paced combat and allow players to dominate the lands through strength and skill.
It launches this summer on PC through Steam Early Access. A console version of the game is also in the works.
