Sam Barlow, developer of last year’s Her Story, tweeted a teaser for what some initially thought could be Her Story 2. The image is a word document, with all text blurred out except for "HER STORY 2" at the top. He also answered some subsequent fan questions (via IGN).

According to Barlow, the sequel will have “no relation story-wise to Her Story,” along with a “I think It’d be rude not to,” in response to some asking if the game would feature live acting like its predecessor. From both of those responses, it seems the game will be more of a spiritual successor rather than a direct sequel. Barlow even joking responded to the Steam Spy account that this is a “working title ;).”
In an email with Polygon, the developer called the game a "spiritual successor."
Her Story garnered critical praise when it released in August of last year. The game has been honored at most of the major award shows, including a “Best Narrative” win at The Game Awards, along with four nominations at the upcoming D.I.C.E. awards.
