Stating a lack of interest in the PSP and poor sales for Valkyria Chronicles 2, Hiroshi Seno – team manager of console sales at SEGA – has confirmed that Valkyria Chronicles III is not going to be localised and released in Europe or the US. Localising games, he said in an interview with Gamespot, would require previous titles in the series to sell above a certain level, a level that the second game just didn't reach.
And it's a real shame that the series is going to stop releasing in the west, I've only played the original but it was something really quite special. A little unusual at times, but for the most part very, very good. I remember when I bought it, it had already been out for a while and the guy serving me told me it was a shooter in an alternate second world war – knowing what the game was, I corrected him. He said "It doesn't matter either way, it doesn't support trophies and that stops people from buying it."
And I think, to a certain extent, that's probably the truth. Trophy support for Valkyria Chronicles was constantly requested, almost as much as MGS4 at one point.
In Japan, Valkyria Chronicles III sold over 100,000 units in its first week of release.
