Currently the main changes you encounter while exploring Fallout 4’s Commonwealth wasteland are the weather and the game’s day/cycle but a new, work-in-progress mod has arrived to alter the seasons and the effects are pretty impressive.
While residents in Diamond City put up decoration to celebrate Halloween and Christmas on the appropriate in-game dates, this mod adds a The Last of Us nature-reclaiming-the-Earth feel to Boston.

The mod, called Fallout 4 Seasons, brings snow in winter, spring adds flowers and greenery, summer tones down the green and produces crops ripe for harvest, and autumn predictably turns tree leaves brown and orange.
Inspired by modern day photos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the mod was created by GameDuchess who explained via Eurogamer, “Those places are extremely green and growing, with nature and animals there as much if not more than they were before the atomic bombs went off. And it’s been far less than 200 years.”
You need to cycle through the seasons manually but GameDuchess hopes to have the seasons correspond with the in-game date once the GECK is released.
There’s no shortage of cool mods for the game already, including one that recreates BioShock Infinite’s Columbia as a settlement.
