Final Fantasy IX has been confirmed to release on the PC soon. Listed as an early 2016 release on Steam, the title will see the addition of an option that allows players to disable random encounters.
In traditional JRPGs, players are often forced to deal with random encounters in which they battle enemies. This is in contrast to western RPGs, which provide players multiple ways to deal with enemies, including sneaking around them or simply speaking to them.
The new version of FF9 will allow players to toggle a mode that disables random encounters entirely and progress through the story unhindered. Gamers can also boost the speed of their characters.
Additionally, the game will offer all the bells and whistles of Steam releases, including achievements and autosaves.
FF9 has been updated to offer cutscenes in high-definition and new character models. A screenshot of what the game looks like can be seen above.
