The rumor that Mass Effect 3 would offer multiplayer options has been around for awhile now, and a new feature from Australian gaming mag PC Powerplay confirms the existence of the speculated online mode.
“That’s right – Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer!” reads the website. “We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy.”
According to the magazine, Mass Effect 3 offers some sort of co-op mode. Details are slim at the magazine’s official website, so we’ll have to wait for official word from Bioware to provide us with further details.
“Multiplayer comes to Mass Effect 3. Â Fight alongside your friends, as the Galaxy goes to war!” reads the text of the magazine cover, which has none other than Commander Shepard in his finest N7 armor.
Mass Effect 3 will be available for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in March 2012.
