The makers of the Final Fantasy series have announced a new game today called Harvestella, complete with a new trailer too. Square Enix revealed the news today that it would be releasing this new title, but not to stray too far from what they know best, the game will also be set in an exciting fantasy world – imagine a cross between Final Fantasy and Stardew Valley, sounds interesting, right?
Harvestella is set to be the studio’s latest life-sim RPG and it will have players farming, crafting countless items, and of course, forcing you to scrounge around for handy materials while you develop your character’s life, and build your settlement. This game follows a similar pattern to real life in that it features four prominent seasons; Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, but here’s the thing, there’s another season called the season of Death. If that doesn’t sound ominous then we don’t know what does.
During the days of “Quietus” (the other four seasons) is when players will need to try their best to prevent the Death season from destroying this perfect little life that has been created. The idyllic lifestyle that blesses your special hometown must be kept as it is, and it just so happens to be entirely up to you to keep it that way – it’s funny how things work, isn’t it?
Harvestella looks set to feature this gorgeous fantasy world that is filled to the brim with various creatures of all shapes and sizes. The combat itself takes inspiration from Square Enix’s most popular series, but there is a huge emphasis on its farming mechanic, coupled with the need to scavenge and build various tools to help you on your journey.
You can watch the trailer below for a more in-depth look at this upcoming game.
With the news only reaching us today, a specific release date is still unknown, but you’ll be the first to know when we get some more details about Harvestella when they get released.
