Has Quantum Break’s release date been moved? That’s the question Amazon is bringing up with their listing.
To be clear, Microsoft and Remedy have already announced that Quantum Break would be releasing on April 5, 2016. Knowing this, it seems strange for Amazon to change the date on their store listing for the game, to May 4, 2016. Has Amazon received early communications that the game would be delayed?
Our source is fomenting on speculation that this is an indication Remedy took an extra month to polish, but I think there’s a simpler, more commonsense explanation. As you may remember, Quantum Break is intended to be an episodic release, meaning players would only get part of the game on April 5.
It’s possible that April 5 is a digital only release for Quantum Break, and the retail release won’t be coming until later, when all or most of the other episodes have been released. That means Quantum Break has a release plan similar to Resident Evil Revelations 2. Capcom did report favorable results to Resident Evil Revelations 2 being episodic, so perhaps Remedy and Microsoft were thinking of the same thing for Quantum Break.
To be clear, this is merely speculation on my part, and the game may be delayed for everyone after all. Of course, Amazon’s revised release date may merely be their speculation too. You may want to bear in mind that Quantum Break was originally supposed to release in 2014.
Would you be OK with a delayed physical release for Quantum Break? Would you buy it digital to get to check it out first? Or has Quantum Break turned you off? Why? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
