Have you been enjoying Fallout 4’s latest PC patch? You may have noticed something missing. Don’t worry, the fans have got your back.
I say you may have noticed it missing, because not everyone uses it. Nexusmods’ launcher has been disabled with the latest patch, with little explanation. While it’s possible that this happened because of the suspected Nexusmods security breach, Bethesda and Steam have yet to confirm that this is the case. It seems unlikely, in any case, since players still seem to be able to play with their mods on.
In any case, if you want to use the launcher, this fan has figured out a workaround. Note that this requires you also use Nexus Mod Manager.
Here’s what you do:
1) Open Nexus Mod Manager.
2) Launch your game, but wait in the launcher before starting the game.
3) Reenable the mods using Nexus Mod Manager.
4) Hit play.
Alternately, you can use your old copy of the file fallout4launcher.exe. Make a copy of the file outside of Steam before you update, and then replace the new launcher with the old one.
If you are wondering, these were the files changed by the update:
Fallout4.exe
Fallout4Launcher.exe
Data/Fallout4.esm
Data/Fallout4 – Animations.ba2
Data/Fallout4 – Misc.ba2
Data/Fallout4 – Shaders.ba2
Data/Fallout4 – Interface.ba2
