Todd Howard, Creative Director at Bethesda Game Studios, says the team has “a lot of ideas” for its next full game. While the studio remains focused on the upcoming expansions for Fallout 4, they have already thrown ideas for their next full project. Howard made the remarks in an interview with Wired. He was also asked if he personally would work on a smaller project, akin to what Ken Levine has done since shutting down Irrational Games and opening a smaller, more indie-like studio. His answer was direct and straightforward.
“The timing of your question, because we just wrapped up Fallout 4, I definitely need a break,” he said. “But that’s normal. And after that, I just see so many things that we could do. I like to make big games, the team likes to make big games. We have lots of ideas. We plan on taking a break and coming back and finding out where those ideas take us. But no–we definitely don’t plan on making small things,” he added.
There are other interesting tidbits from the interview as well, including how Howard got his first job at Bethesda as a college student. The entire interview is worth a read. And while some may already be waiting for the next big buggy Bethesda adventure, the company is focusing on Fallout 4’s expansions for now. The first is set to be released in early 2016.
