Looking forward to Night Dive Studios’ remaster of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter? The team has a few new screenshots to show you.
As you can see, Night Dive’s MO as always is not to remake the game from the ground up, but to put in the improvements that fans would have wanted from the original developers. These screenshots demonstrate smoothed out backgrounds, better lighting, and a wider FOV than the original game had.
These improvements are also noteworthy when you consider that the original release by Iguana Entertainment in 1997 pushed the capabilities of Nintendo 64’s graphics. The compromises needed to get the game running on the cartridge, such as graphic slowdown from multiple enemies, are expected to all be address with this remaster, making it the definitive version of the game.
No word if Night Dive plans to add Nintendo 64 controller support (hey, some people will want it), but it will hopefully reappear on GOGcom, which has carved out a niche for rereleased classic PC games like this, as well as on Steam.
