You won't be able to play From Software's Bloodborne for the next few days due to "emergency maintenance."
While the downtime wasn't announced in advance, a Japanese support page reads: "We are currently conducting emergency maintenance on the game servers. The maintenance should be complete within a few days. We will update you again once the maintenance ends.
"We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for playing Bloodborne."
The maintenance is quite extensive and comes only a week after the release of The Old Hunters DLC add-on for the game.
Bloodborne's lead hosting engineer, Tim Wernicke, commented on Reddit, "Thanks to the community here, we've received some really important feedback about an exploit and serious issues that exist in the game. The game is currently undergoing emergency maintenance, and we're working non-stop to get some things patched and back online. So a huge thank-you to everyone here for the feedback, and please be patient while we work to get things restored.
"I apologize that I can't be more specific, but I wanted to let you know that we value your feedback, and what you're doing here is really helping. So, thanks!"
Some fans speculate that the exploit mentioned allows users to access The Old Hunters DLC, which should cost $20, for free and this would certainly explain the extent and scale of the maintenance.
