Overkill Software is still having problems addressing issues with Payday 2, but not for lack of trying.
As a show of goodwill, producer Almir Listo spoke with three of the volunteer moderators, Ashley, Tessio, and Jones, via Googke Hangouts to clear up all the issues in public. You can actually listen to the entire two hour conversation via our source.
Almir mostly spent that session apologizing and pledging to fix things up. He was also noticeably clear that Overkill is not taking back the addition of microtransactions into the game, but they will do good by the fans who’ve stayed loyal all these years. On the Steam update, he shared more tangible details on what Overkill will be doing.
Overkill is planning another meeting with volunteer mods, Ashley and Jones, to finalize details on changes they will be making based on fan feedback. They specifically mentioned stat boosts and the COP reward, with a mind on reducing the randomness of earning that reward. For stat boosts, fans have suggested something like StatTrack in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Eight of Overkill’s developers will be going to the forums to take a more active role to engage with fans, and also to communicate future changes. Overkill will also meet modders Last Bullet and I am not a spy, as well as top player PeaseMaker in the following months.
Of course, many of these are still promises, and may not go far enough to address criticisms. However, Overkill is putting their best foot forward now. Hopefully, this leads to real changes, sooner rather than later.
