First Episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Now Free on PSN, XBL

November 17, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Deluxe Edition also available today.

The first episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, the sequel to 2012’s episodically-told Resident Evil story, is currently free on Xbox Live (Xbox One) and the PlayStation Store (PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3).

The first of four episodes, Penal Colony begins the interwoven tale of Claire Redfield and Barry Burton. Penal Colony specifically focuses on Claire Redfield and Moira Burton as they awake to find themselves stranded on an island, having been kidnapped by an unknown group of people.

Today also sees the release of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Deluxe Edition, which includes all four episodes plus two extra episodes, extra costumes, additional Raid Mode characters, throwback maps, and additional storage slots. The Deluxe Edition costs $29.99 and can be downloaded via your console’s respective online stores.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 released its first episode in February of this year with a new episode being released each week thereafter for three weeks. Upon release of all four main episodes, a complete edition (not to be confused with the aforementioned Deluxe Edition) was released. In August 2015, a PlayStation Vita version, developed by Frima Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, was released.

So, if you haven’t had a chance to check out Capcom’s latest Resident Evil outing, you might want to give this free first episode a shot. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
