Blizzard has given players a bigger look at what’s coming with Diablo 3’s Patch 2.4.0 PTR. Bear in mind this doesn’t even cover everything.
First off is Greyhollow Island, a new zone set in a brooding dark forest. It’s rumored many tragedies have occurred in the area, and those who visit don’t make it back. This zone is only available on Adventure mode. Existing areas in Adventure mode will also be expanded, with The Eternal Woods reaching at the limits of the Ruins of Sescheron and visit the inner sanctum of Leoric’s Manor in its Royal Quarters.
There are also several smaller changes, as outlined below:
24 class sets have undergone revisions, to different degrees. The Thorns of the Invoker and the Shadow’s Mantle were remade from the ground up, while Inna’s Mantra and Firebird’s Finery are getting small buffs. Two two piece jewelry sets are getting a complete overhaul, and the Crusader is getting a two piece flail and shield set.
When you complete the six items of a set, you will now be able to enter a Set Dungeon, designed just so you can master the said set. These dungeons aren’t randomized, so you can plan your entry and earn cosmetic rewards. There are 24 sets to earn dungeons from.
When entering a Greater Rift, you can spend money to make it an Empowered Rift. This makes it so that you can find four Legendary Gem upgrades within the Rift. The amount spent is based on the tier of the Rift.
Forty new Legendary powers will be added in, including adding powers to powerless Legendaries, updating other powers, and completely new items.
The UI has received a dynamic refresh, removing some statis buffs and adding skill bars so you know the duration of a given skill.
Stash space is being increased, but in different ways for PC and for consoles. While consoles players can straight up purchase 350 item slots, on PC you can choose to purchase a stash tab from the Reaper of Souls expansion, or via the Season Journey feature. PC players can earn a maximum of 10 stash tabs.
Season Journey, for those who don’t know, is a feature that lets you play through a Season in a way that’s tweaked to your style and level. Season Journeys are getting revisions this year. If you’re attached to your hero, you can also avail of Season Rebirth, allowing you to move between Seasons without dealing with the end of Season purge. Your hero loses their gear, but retains their name and hours played.
Finally, all players are getting a new Action Combat feature, revising how Massacre and Destruction bonuses work.
