Does the Wii U and 3DS lineup seem slim pickings for this holiday? Don’t fret, as Nintendo seems to have a plan for their fans.
CEO Tatsumi Kimishima started out the latest Nintendo investor meeting by revealing that they have several unannounced games for both consoles that will be releasing this holiday.
Now, we might have an idea of what some of these games are. It wasn’t that long ago that the NUS server database came up with listings for several Wii games for the Wii U eShop Virtual Console. These include cult favorites like Super Paper Mario, Wario Land Shake it, and Mario Super Sluggers, but most interestingly, there is a listing for The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD.
As if to bolster this rumor, NeoGAFfer James Scott put forward evidence that Nintendo is acknowledging Twilight Princess in the same investor meeting. One of their slides showcased several of Nintendo’s franchises, and sitting securely alongside Bowser and Samus Aran is a new render of Link, the protagonist from The Legend of Zelda games. With his shield and sword out on both hands, this Link most closely resembles his appearance in Twilight Princess. You can see the image below/.
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is one of the more recent titles as The Legend of Zelda games come and go, and is one of the most popular critically and commercially. Having been released in GameCube and Wii, some reviewers were unsatisfied with what was already dated, albeit beautiful, visuals in 2006.
Almost a decade in, would Nintendo really bring back the 2nd The Legend of Zelda Gamecube game in HD? Would you want to reexplore it in HD? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
