While Halo 5: Guardians should have been playable at 12:01 AM today, some who purchased the game through the Xbox Store received an error that said it was “too early” to play the game.
343 Industries’ newest installment in the Halo franchise, Halo 5: Guardians’ 54.84 GB install file had been available to preload before today, launch day. Many found that the pre-load install took tremendously long amounts of time, sometimes taking more than 18 hours, and that the game would not start at 12:01, even with almost 50% of the files installed. While it’s not clear if this is a widespread issue, fans voiced their disappointment on both Twitter and the Halo subreddit.
Halo 5: Guardians launched today exclusively on Xbox One. Microsoft held a six-hour countdown event called Halo 5 yesterday to celebrate the game’s release. You can read our review roundup to see what critics across the web thought of Master Chief’s latest adventure.
