The highly acclaimed Blossom Tales series is set to return in August with the upcoming title Blossom Tales: The Minotaur Prince. The 2D Zelda-like game Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King was a massive success when it was released in 2017, and the news of a sequel is sure to excite many fans.
The Sleeping King saw players take on the role of Lily or the ‘Knight of the Rose’ who must save the kingdom of Blossom, narrated as a game-within-a-game by your grandpa – think of it as Inception, but way cooler.
The Minotaur Prince will look to follow the same trend that its predecessor did. The story will once again be narrated, and it is also influenced by films such as The Princess Bride and Labyrinth – a couple of childhood classics. If you want more of a vivid picture of what to expect, check out the trailer below.
Now that you’ve seen the trailer, here’s the story: The Minotaur King has returned, and it looks to be your fault. Your character Lily must now go on a journey through haunted forests, pirate shores, and many other mysterious lands that stretch across the huge open world. Along with that, you’ll face terrible enemies and difficult puzzles while discovering a whole host of powerful weapons that can aid you in your journey.
Players will be able to explore countless dungeons, caves, and several other expansive locations. All of this exploration will influence the story that you make for yourself. The game also has a retro feel to it, which you will learn to love in its 15+ hours of gameplay.
The game will be published by Playtonic and is also set to receive a physical version for the Nintendo Switch courtesy of Limited Run Games. If you’re worried you won’t understand the sequel, you can get the first game with a 27 percent discount on Steam now.
