A retail listing that has popped up on both Amazon and Gamefly suggests that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, one of the two placeholder games released between Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4, will soon be coming to PlayStation 3. Originally released on PlayStation 2, the game recently got an Xbox 360 version on disc, making this decision not so out of left field as it may seem. However, Vice City does not seem to be getting the same treatment, nor is there word of any visual updates to make better use of last generation's hardware.
By now San Andreas is a bit dated but there's no denying the game was a masterpiece; it marked the beginning of an era in video game technology where open world maps could be massive and impossible to master. As of now there are no other details about its physical disc debut on PlayStation 3 but if the news interests you, keep an eye on the Amazon and Gamefly listings.
