Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach Ruin DLC Coming in 2023

June 6, 2022 by Brandon Lyttle

Return to the pizzaplex.

Steel Wool Studios, the team behind Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach have announced a free DLC adventure called Ruin which will release sometime in 2023.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is the latest game in the franchise (affectionately shortened to FNAF by fans) which shakes things up from the traditional format. Instead of checking cameras from a fortified security office, players take on the role of Gregory and actively explore the pizzaplex after closing hours.

Along the way, players will have to avoid the usual murderous animatronics, as well as a distressingly proactive security guard. While the game’s release was initially plagued with bugs, Steel Wool has been working on straightening those out with patches.

The teaser image for the DLC shows a new protagonist, a young girl entering the ruins of the pizzaplex. The base game’s protagonist Gregory is shown on a monitor with the message “Help me”.

FNAF has long been the subject of fan theories and has leaned into this, ever since the first game lore is fed to players through secrets, background info, and sometimes through social media.

This method of drip-feeding the story to players has only increased as the series has grown. One of the most famous examples of this has been the secret conversation in the Five Nights at Freddy’s Survival Logbook a seemingly normal activity book.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach has spawned its own collection of fan theories with varying amounts of evidence. Is Gregory a robot? Is Michael Afton alive in some form or another? Who knows, but maybe
