Koei Tecmo’s latest entry in the Fatal Frame series, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, which is only available digitally, is too big in download size for some Wii U consoles.
The game’s initial levels are available to download and play for free; however these free levels will take up 9,964.8 MB of space on a Wii U’s internal or external hard drive. This size already exceeds the 8 GB of internal storage on the low-end Wii U console. Those who would like to download the rest of the game after playing the initial free levels will have to cough up $50 and an additional 8,186.6 MB of hard drive space, for a total of more than 18 GB of hard drive space.
This means that to play the latest Wii U-exclusive, players will need to either own a 32 GB Wii U or an external hard drive. The 32 GB Wii U console does not relegate all 32 GBs to the user for storage (as per usual with hard drives built into game consoles), so deleting other content from the hard drive may be required to fit Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water on the console’s hard drive, depending on how much free space the user currently has.
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is already available for download from the Wii U eShop in North America. Those in Europe will need to wait until Oct. 30. You can check out a trailer for the game here.
