Halo 5 Guardians: Frank O’Connor Hints It Could Leave Xbox One Exclusivity For Windows 10

October 23, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Microsoft’s recent history between Xbox and PC has always involved using their games and features to sell a different product.

343’s Frank O’Connor has dropped hints thatHalo 5 Guardians will leave Xbox One exclusivity for Windows 10.

He didn’t make an official confirmation or announcement to this end, but Frank did say porting the game would fall in line with their prior promises to bring more Xbox games to PC.

Here is Frank’s full statement, verbatim:

You know, Microsoft has made a huge commitment trying sort of… I think normalize the Windows experience across multiple platforms. You see the elements of Windows 10 are going to appear in Xbox and Cortana and stuff like that. There is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point… you know, we developed the game on an Intel platform. It wouldn’t be the hardest thing in the world to move it to PC and take advantage of PC stuff. But nothing I announce today on this chat.

Microsoft’s recent history between Xbox and PC has always involved using their games and features to sell a different product. This was the case with Vista and Halo 2, Gears of War, and Shadowrun, with Games for Windows Live and Xbox 360, and now, with games like Project Spark, Minecraft, and Fable Legends for Windows 10.

For now, Halo 5 Guardians is planned to release only on Xbox One, on October 27, 2015. Would you buy or upgrade to Windows 10 if it came with Halo 5 Guardians? What if the OS came with the game gratis? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
