Last week, Bethesda opened sign-ups for alpha testing the new DOOM. Now the company has announced that the closed alpha testing period will be October 23 (12:01 EST) to October 25 (11:59 EST). The game will be tested for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
The test will focus on a map called Heatwave. Testers will play 6v6 deathmatch games while trying out six weapons and two pieces of equipment, images of which were leaked yesterday. Bethesda has also written a blog post about several new powerful "game changers" on the map:
The Demon Rune, which can turn the tide of a battle by transforming a player into a bad-ass Revenant fully loaded with dual rocket launchers and a jetpack.
The Gauss Cannon, a high-powered weapon that can destroy a foe in a single blast.
Power-ups like Quad Damage and Invisibility – you can guess what each of these does.
DOOM launches spring 2016. Dates for the beta testing period have yet to be announced, but according to Bethesda, everyone who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order can get in and it will happen in 2016. Only a few users will get into the alpha. More details about testing eligibility, as outlined by Bethesda:
