Square Enix Teases Info on Dragon Quest Builders

October 19, 2015 by Olga Lexell

Along with information about the game, the company has released screenshots of one of its worlds.

In anticipation of the upcoming release of Dragon Quest Builders, Square Enix has released new information about the game's story along with screenshots of Merkid, the first world that players visit.

Players will find the fortress city in ruins upon arrival. The world is full of caves to explore, as well as Travel Gates that transport characters to different areas.

The goal seems to be to help restore Merkid and brings its citizens back while combatting a slew of monsters. Rolondo, the son of the city's former mayor, and Prinn, who oversees the town's revival, will guide the player along the way.

Builders is a block-making RPG in the vein of Minecraft and a direct sequel to the first Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior. With the 30th anniversary of the series coming up in 2016, fans of the franchise also have Dragon Quest XI to look forward to.

Dragon Quest Builders will release on January 28, 2016 for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.
