Splatoon Version 2.2.0 Coming Tuesday, Changes Everything (But Maybe Not Octolings)

October 16, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Nintendo didn’t indicate Octolings would be added in with the update, but there are sweeping changes to every aspect of the game.

Splatoon version 2.2.0 is coming up! It certainly is a surprise update, but if you were hoping it’s confirmation of Octolings, it’s not quite there.

Nintendo shared patch notes for the update, and it’s mostly adjustments, but for nearly every aspect of the game. Small changes are coming to weapons, battle, ranked battle, ranking, stages, down to visual and audio effects and bug fixes. Of course, this does not rule out the possibility that playable Octolings – or an Octoling single player campaign, as it has been heavily rumored – will be coming with the update.

Bolstering fans hope for this is the fact that the update won’t even be up until October 20, Tuesday, at 6 PM PDT. From 5:50 to 7 PM PDT there will understandably be server maintenance as well.

Here and now, fans can look forward to something today, as the Rapid Blaster Pro goes live this 7 PM PDT. You can read full patch notes below, and full weapon balance changes here (PDF).
