Blizzard has denied claims that Blizzcon 2011 will serve as a coming out part for the company's next-gen MMO, codenamed Titan.
Rumors began to spread earlier this week when M2 Reasearch analyst Billy Pidgeon told VentureBeat that Blizzard would likely reveal Titan soon. Pidgeon, citing World of Warcraft’s rapidly dwindling user base and the impending December launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic, claimed a Titan announcement would allow Blizzard to take momentum away from its competitors. The logical place to do that, in Pidgeon's eyes, is the the company’s annual fan expo, known as Blizzcon.
Unfortunately, a Blizzard spokesperson has now confirmed to IGN that nothing of the sort will be happening this year. Instead, the event is expected to provide a firm release date for Diablo III and a launch window for the second game in the StarCraft II trilogy, Heart of the Swarm.
Blizzcon 2011 runs from October 21 through 22 in Anaheim, California.
