A job posting on IO Interactive's website might mean another Kane & Lynch game is on the way from the Danish developer.
The listing for a "senior multiplayer programmer" position promises work on a " yet unannounced 3rd person game with strong cooperative multiplayer elements."
That's a fitting description of the co-op heavy Kane & Lynch series. While neither the first game or its follow up, Dog Days, garnered a positive response from critics, sales have been relatively impressive. The second game moved over a million units and proved profitable for Square Enix, meaning another sequel is likely on the way at some point.
The other (and frankly more promising) option is that IO is prepping a sequel to 2003's Freedom Fighters, a third-person shooter that saw you fighting to liberate a Soviet-controlled New York. That game was originally scheduled to get a sequel back in 2004 before they put it on the backburner to develop Kane & Lynch. As recently as 2007, IO has been publically vocal about wanting to pursue another entry in the franchise.
