Overall, NBA 2K16 is a mixed bag. While the game has never looked better, and the core gameplay remains solid, many fans took issue with Spike Lee’s story, ‘Livin’ Da Dream’. Mainly, they were used to the career giving them freedom to tell their story, only to be constrained by Lee’s narrative. There are also some issues with online play and other dissonant elements in the story.
Taking the story mode aside, however, the game remains a fan pleasing experience. The combination of the expanded modes, college teams, the five soundtracks, and the solid fundamentals make this the biggest and most refined NBA game 2K Sports has ever made.
