Four images apparently showing a new Silent Hill game were leaked this morning before being quickly removed. AestheticGamer (also known as Dusk Golem) shared the images via Twitter, stating “I know many will doubt this, but I have a lot of private proof to show this is real.” Soon afterward, AestheticGamer’s account was locked and the images were removed. The user later shared on ResetEra that the removal was due to a copyright strike from Konami.
Some of the images show a decaying room filled with trash and peeling wallpaper. Another features a hallway lined with notes with a strange figure standing in the middle. A final image shows the face of a girl or young woman, whose skin appears paper-like and peeling, with notes written underneath. One of the images seems to be signed by Masahiro Ito, the legendary designer who worked on the franchise through 2007’s Silent Hill Origins.
The contents of some of the notes seem to point toward a British influence for the new game. A line from Monty Python’s The Life of Brian (“he’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy”) is scribbled on the wall. Additionally, the young woman’s face bears the word “minger,” which is a British slang term for an ugly person.
The presence of Ito and the copyright strike from Konami add credence to AestheticGamer’s claims. Additionally, AestheticGamer is a well-known industry leaker who previously predicted Resident Evil Village. Although AestheticGamer admits the images are from 2020 and thus may be outdated, they state, “This is from a relatively new source for me, but I have been given more than enough proof to believe them.”
Konami has been teasing two new Silent Hill games since January 2020, but no formal announcement has yet been made. Time will tell if these leaks are legitimate or just more hype from desperate Silent Hill fans.
