Take a Look at the Making of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

May 11, 2022 by Brandon Lyttle

Take a look at the design philosophy behind a world attacked by gods.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an upcoming open-world game following one woman’s journey through a world besieged by an undead army. PlayStation has released a video giving viewers a behind the scenes look at the making of the game, and what sort of things they can expect.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is the latest title from developer A44 Games. Players will take on the role of Nor Vanek, a young woman and member of the “Coalition Army”, an army formed to fight the tide of undead emerging from the “Door to the Afterlife”.

A44 Games goes into detail, explaining their design philosophy when creating their environments. Their philosophy is to always consider why they’re putting something into the environment, why does this empty city have a sprawling marketplace? Why is this one area overgrown with vegetation?

Not only that, they also performed research about the local plants of New Zealand, confirming that the game takes place in a similarly tropical region. You can check out the making of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn here.
