Call of Duty is at this point a franchise about tradition. You run, you shoot, you unlock guns, you listen as teenagers question your mother's legitimacy. This is all well and good and God's in His heaven.
Since the debut of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, though, there's another tradition that's part of the Call of Duty franchise, and that tradition is zombies. Yes, none of us are tired of zombies yet, right?
Well, hang on. A very forensic-minded YouTuber who goes by "MrRoflWaffles" has done a frame-by-frame analysis of the Black Ops III marketing for their inevitable zombies add-on, and he's discovered something… sinister. Call of Duty isn't the brainless, silly, make-tons-of-money-for-Activision-every-year thing you think it is. Maybe… maybe… it's a summoning ritual for the Lovecraftian ancient being who will bring on the end times. There are sigils, ancient Cuneiform runes, and summoning circles.
MrRoflWaffles goes into some pretty deep screenshot forensics, but it's pretty great seeing how Treyarch has apparently put a lot of thought and research into their forthcoming zombies mod. Check it out.
