Playground Games is already putting the wheels in motion (sorry) on the next instalment of Forza Horizon. As spotted by XGP, the studio has recently put out a job advertisement specifically for a level designer to work on what sounds very much like Forza Horizon 6.
This is pretty fast work considering the huge success and relatively recent release of Forza Horizon 5, which has only been out since last November. With the current iteration of the Forza Horizon franchise proving to be such a smash hit though, is it any wonder that Playground Games are keen to build on the success of the franchise?
The advert specifically states that the team are looking for “a Level Designer to join our Forza Horizon team,” before continuing to explain that the successful applicant will “be a part of the level design team on our next AAA title, responsible for creating fun, playable gameplay experiences”.
As it’s specified that this role is intended for someone to join the Forza Horizon team and work on the studio’s next AAA title, this can only mean that Playground is already working on the development (albeit at a very early stage) of Forza Horizon 6.
If this is the case, then Forza Horizon fans shouldn’t get too excited just yet either way. Forza Horizon 5 is still pretty brand new to the market and in terms of development cycles, it’s probably the case that the next version of the franchise won’t be ready for a good few years just yet.
Still, it’s pretty exciting to see how quickly the team at Playground Games are planning to build on the substantial appetite for Forza Horizon content from the gaming community. Until we hear more, players can expect to continue their adventures in Forza Horizon 5 for the time being.
Forza Horizon 5 is available now on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and PC.
