The Coalition’s Jack Felling has authored an FAQ for most gamers’ most pressing issues regarding Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
First off, a patch is already being produced, but it may not fix the issues you are looking at. It will deal with the shotgun, the scoreboard in spectator mode, the L-trigger delay to shoot bug, and the instant roadie run after being revived bug, among others.
Although fans have many complaints about matchmaking, the Coalition claims the system is stable and they produce matches quickly. Some players are having issues playing from school, work, or university due to a strict NAT/router, in which case they recommend port forwarding.
For players who experience lag, they recommend finding the closest servers to connect to. Regarding unfair matchmaking, the system uses skill and not XP ranks to match players. While this is a good idea in theory, it takes some time to reflect that skill based ranking.
Matchmaking has limits too, so you can’t play it like Gears of War 3, or switch sides from Locust to COG and vice versa.
Regarding competitive playlist maps, these only use maps that work for the game mode best.
After Level 60, no more characters and skins get unlocked. The Coalition has no plans for DLC, since they are working on Gears of War 4, but that may change in the future.
