Nintendo had a spectacular showing at PAX with their Nindies@Night event, highlighting several of the big games they have coming up.
Of course, the highlight of the show was the confirmation of the Shovel Knight amiibo leaked almost a day ago. Yacht Club Games explained the amiibo unlocks coop multiplayer for the Wii U version, and new challenge stages for both Wii U and 3DS. Even better, the amiibo save feature allows you to customize your knight, giving him relics, abilities and powers, and even his appearance. This save can be passed around between the Wii U and 3DS.
Also leaked early, but welcome news nonetheless, was Kerbal Space Program. Developer Squad says the Wii U version may be the definitive version of the game, thanks to the GamePad controller functions. The GamePad will allow you to control your ship as if you were inside the cockpit. The touchscreen will also be usable to map out flight plans, and motion controls will be activated for steering.
Also featured on the event wereHive Jump and Fast Racing Neo. Hive Jump is planned for release on 2016 in US and Europe. The GamePad will function as a map, which lets you see where teammates are, and there is a standing process of amiibo support. Fast Racing Neo is releasing before the year ends, and Shin’en claim to have matched Mario Kart 8’s performance metrics. The game will run 60 FPS on 2 player splitscreen, and drop to 30 FPS with more players. Online, you will be able to play with as many as 8 players.
