Naughty Dog sound designers Rob Krekel and Phillip Kovats will be appearing on the Dolby Institute and Soundworks Collection’s new podcast “Conversations with Artists” next week to discuss their work at Naughty Dog, specifically on the Uncharted series and The Last of Us.
A 10-minute sample of next week’s episode featuring Krekel and Kovats is currently available for your listening pleasure. In the sample, Krekel and Kovats go into detail about the process of recording and implementing audio in a video game, especially one with a scope like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and how audio production for video games differs from other mediums like film.
Earlier today, co-director of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Neil Druckmann revealed on Twitter that the actors for Sully and Elena, Richard McGonagle and Emily Rose, respectively, have wrapped their motion capture work on the game. Druckmann shared two photos, one with each of the actors in their full-body motion capture suits, saying, “Can’t wait to show off all your hard work.”
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be launching early next year exclusively on PlayStation 4. In the meantime, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, featuring all three PlayStation 3 Uncharted titles with updated visuals, running at 60 frames per second will be available on Oct. 7 on PS4.
The full episode of Conversations with Artists, featuring Krekel and Kovats, will be available on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 12 p.m. ET.
