Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Challenges You Not To Drop The Combo

August 14, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Ultimately, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 emphasizes precision and momentum.

Treyarch has done something special with the combat systems for Call of Duty Black Ops 3. Now, the mantra of the day is don’t drop you combo.

Treyarch has designed combat with the purpose of winding the combat loop tight, AKA making it possible to keep constantly moving and attacking. It all starts with unlimited sprint, and then on top of this is the ability to mantle everywhere without a break from movement or shooting. You can mantle in all directions, even while side strafing.

There is a thrust jump, which gives you variable control over your jumps, even in mid air. Thrust jumps are analog, and use a meter to determine height/duration. You can tap jump to extend, or press and hold jump to get higher or go further. You can thrust mid-air to change direction.

Powersliding is engaged by pressing X while sprinting. You can aim and shoot in any direction while sliding. You can combine slides with thrust jumps in any combination, such as executing the whole slide mid air, or landing on the ground with a slide.

Wall runs are initiated by pressing the left thumb stick towards a wall, and you can keep wall running by simply holding that direction. You can ADS and use all your equipment while wall running, but most incredibly, you can turn around to wall run back the other direction.

Lastly, you can swim in any direction, and continue attacking while doing so. You will still need to get up for air, but you can combine thrust jumps with swimming to add variations to movement.

As you can imagine, you can chain these movements together, and chain attacks in between, to keep extended combos going. Ultimately, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 emphasizes precision and momentum, so if you’re up for it, you can rack up incredible points playing perfectly.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will be released on November 6 on Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
