When video game companies work together on something, that’s usually a good thing. The only question that arises is that of what the purpose of the collaboration is. For Bandai Namco, they have been working with Nintendo on all sorts of things in the past. Not the least of which is the recent past where they’ve helped out on development of all sorts of titles, including Super Smash Bros Ultimate. But now, the company has put out some job ads that indicate that they’re working on a “3D Action Remaster” of a Nintendo title.
Specifically, the jobs in question are that of a background artist, and a game designer:
” As a visual artist for 3D action game projects commissioned by Nintendo you will be responsible for HD remastering of 3D backgrounds.”
” As a visual artist for 3D action game projects commissioned by Nintendo, the candidate will be responsible for image sketching for design study and 3D background production work.”
” In cooperation with the background art team, we will develop the concept of the game and design stages and levels in line with the game design, and white box verification, object placement, data creation, etc.
To be fair, those were machine translated but the intent comes off as you might expect.
Many fans are trying to guess what it could be in terms of the game/games, but the truth of the matter is that the Nintendo Switch, especially as of late, has been FULL of remasters from all walks of life. We just got the Chrono Cross remake, and remakes of titles like Live A Live are still on the way. Not to mention past 1st party ones like Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
So in truth, until a remaster title is announced, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
