A new trailer for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer was released today by Activision and provides more concrete details on what beta testers can expect from the beta later this month.
There will be at least three maps and seven modes in the multiplayer beta. Specifically, the trailer mentions “3+” maps and “7+” modes, meaning there could be more maps and modes added throughout the duration of the beta. In addition to the aforementioned maps and modes, the beta will also have eight different “Specialist” characters for beta testers to try out. Weapon customization, including the paintshop, will also be included.
The Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta will run from Aug. 19-23 on PlayStation 4 and Aug. 26-30 on Xbox One and PC. The reason for the earlier dates on PlayStation 4 is due to the exclusivity deal between Activision and Sony to have content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 appear on PlayStation platforms first. This exclusivity includes the multiplayer beta. Post-launch DLC for Black Ops 3 will be available on PlayStation platforms for 30 days before appearing on other platforms.
Beta testers can access the beta by pre-ordering Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and redeeming an access code through the Call of Duty website. Unfortunately for those that have yet to make the leap to the current generation of consoles, the beta will not be available on PlayStation 3 or Xbox360.
