Take-Two Interactive has once again renewed the trademark for another dormant game IP, Rockstar Games’ Agent.
Among Rockstar Games’ body of work, Agent occupies a strange space, as it is literally vaporware. Originally announced in 2007 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, Rockstar stopped talking about development by 2009 and was widely believed to have been cancelled. Take-Two did state that the game was still in the works in 2011, and they also filed trademarks for the name in 2013, so clearly, there’s still interest in making the game.
The game was revealed to be set in the Cold War, with your character delving deep into the world of counter-intelligence and espionage. No word then if Rockstar was going for Ian Fleming or John Le Carre, but of course, since then we have seen many indies tread similar ground, including Jazzpunk, CounterSpy, and Signal Ops.
