Reed Hastings CEO and Co-founder of Netflix has finally offered an explanation on camera for the huge changes made a few months back when the company decided to seperate its DVD-by-mail and streaming services, along with the pricing. He explained that overtime both services would rather do a better job if they seperated them into two seperate companies. The DVD-by-mail service has now been renamed to "Qwikster" and the streaming service will continue to be known as "Netflix."
Just so you know, these will be two entirely seperate companies and websites (qwikster/Netflix), so be ready to manage two seperate accounts and pay two seperate bills. At least when you start, your current rating and reviews will be in both, but moving forward they will be different. Andy Rendich, who has been working on the Netflix DVD service for 12 years, and leading it for the last 4 years, will be the CEO of Qwikster when it launches in a few weeks.
Quikster will be a similar website which Netflix customers are used to, apart from the new addition of a video games upgrade option, similar to the Blu-ray upgrade option, it'll allow members to rent Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii games.
