Final Fantasy XV Dawn Trailer Revealed

August 5, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The trailer seems to be a jump back in time of the lives of two major characters: Noctis Lucis Caelum and Lunafreya Nox Fleuret.

The grandiose Gamescom trailer for Final Fantasy XV has been revealed.

The trailer seems to be a jump back in time of the lives of two major characters: Noctis Lucis Caelum and Lunafreya Nox Fleuret.

The trailer starts with a potentially shocking scene for Lunafreya, as she seems to be accosted in the middle of the night by a mysterious old man. Is this her father, or an agent of invading Nilflheim? Outside, a heavily armed royal guard is holding a line of vehicles, as the dog from the teaser scampers around, presumably to look for explosives. Again, it’s not clear if these are Lucian soldiers protecting the city, or Nilfheim soldiers hiding their crimes?

The second scene is mysterious, but evokes emotions of a different kind. King Regis holds onto a sleepy Noctis. With tears in his eyes, he tries to kiss his son, but Noctis motions away to sleep. Regis murmurs that he will always be with the boy, as the camera pans to reveal what he faces: three mysterious gigantic beings bathed in light, and eyeing him from a distance.

The biggest mystery here, of course, is Lunafreya, who replaces Stella. Since Stella’s characterization no longer fits the game narrative, Luna presumably has a completely new and original background.

Final Fantasy XV is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We should be getting answers to our many questions in tomorrow’s Active Time Report, but what do you hope to hear? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
