Given that Lord of the Rings Online has been active for almost ten years now, it should come as no surprise to anyone that its popularity has been waning for quite some time.
Starting 2016, its developer Turbine will be shuttering 17 of the game's servers and transfering all characters within these realms to the 10 remaining ones for free, indefinitely.
According to the developer, the transfer process will begin by opening the test world, Bullroarer, for character copy. They will then open transfers between the 10 remaining worlds. Then the worlds that are closing will be opened for transfer, a few at a time, in the order listed on this website.
One server, Brandywine, will be unavailable for transfers due to overpopulation.
The remaining 10 servers are expected to stay up for a while yet as the game continues to stay active.
Here are the servers that will stay up:
- Arkenstone
- Belegaer
- Crickhollow
- Gwaihir
- Landroval
- Sirannon
- Gladden
- Laurelin
- Brandywine
- Evernight
