Bethesda's well known for developing huge games that span over hundreds of hours, providing players with up to years of enjoyment. Hell, I'm still playing Skyrim. It should come as no surprise then that the upcoming Fallout 4 is set to be every bit as big as the studio's other titles.
In a new interview with the Official Xbox Magazine, Bethesda lead producer Jeff Gardiner said that he's been playing the game for over 400 hours and he still hasn't experienced everything that the game has to offer. It's that big.
"I’ve played the game for probably 400 hours, and I’m still finding stuff that I haven’t seen," said Gardiner of the game.
The reason for this is thanks to the game's extensive crafting system, which allows players to fully alter the makeup of the weapons and gear they equip with stuff they find, upgrading things as they see fit. While previous games from the studio offered epic adventures, none of them offered a crafting system as versatile as the one Fallout 4 offers.
Lead designer Pete Hines expanded upon the crafting system with some detail.
“For the larger building stuff it’s not stored in your inventory, it’s in the workbench that you’re using in that area. I de-constructed this and it’s all stored over here and then when I go to build it’s pulling from that inventory of stuff I have.”
That sounds pretty good to me. You can even expect the game to last well beyond 400 hours with all the mods that creative gamers are going to develop for it.
The game is "basically done" and is slated for release on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on November 10.
