Fate Tectonics, a tile-based puzzle game from Canadian developer Gold Gear, will be released this September on Windows and Mac, publisher Toy Temp announced today.
Players will be tasked with building worlds out of the void by placing tiles using the power of Fates, god-like beings that want to see the world create, but aren’t opposed to letting you know when they are angered. Making a wrong move can anger the Fates and cause them to wreak havoc on your world with natural disasters that will destroy entire sections of the world you are building.
Of the planned 11 Fates, nine have been announced so far and they are:
- Penelope, Fate of Civilization
- Barnacles, Fate of the Seas
- Hogweed, Fate of the Forests
- Pestur, Fate of Disease
- Catlas, Fate of Minerals
- Travissty, Fate of Demonstrations
- Serenity, Fate of Eternal Calm
- Ragnarosa, Fate of Judgement
- Fortuna, Fate of Records
Two game modes will be included at launch:
Ragnarosa and Fortuna
Each world you create is a moment in time, an Age if you will, and the sisters determine its lifespan.
As one draws to a close, Ragnarosa passes judgment; if not satisfied, your world will cease and life begins anew. The only force powerful enough to stave the inevitable is Fortuna; she records the accomplishments of each Age, to convince her sister of its worthiness and to withhold judgment.
Serenity
The normal rules regarding death and rebirth do not apply. An Age may be everlasting, thanks to the almighty Serenity; his calm energies ensure that the other Fates are much slower to react, to become forces much easier to reckon with.
Thus you are able to craft an Age that will thrive and endure, free from Ragnarosa and Fortuna's subjugation.
