2K Games has announced that Mafia 3 is in development at the publisher. It will be fully revealed at Gamescom in a few days time.
The publisher sent out an e-mail as well as a tweet to announce that the first trailer for the game will be published on Wednesday, August 5 at 8am Eastern. Beyond the trailer, a preview of the game will be shown to the press behind closed doors at the Gamescom convention taking place in Germany.
The announcement has come as a surprise to many, though keen-eyed fans of the series have noted that the publisher bought domains relating for the game not too long ago.
Very little is known about the game at this point, but it looks like it'll take place in a Louisiana setting judging from a leaked casting call last year.
2K Czech was rumored to be working on the game before the company restructured. It's unknown who is handling the game at the moment. We can expect for the game to be published for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
